This photo may look like some modern art you may find in a museum, but let me assure you that this is a close-up of an ordinary object (okay, it was in the public and subject to the vicissitudes of the outdoors).
I like the movement suggested by the bold vertical white stroke running through the center of the photograph (carefully cropped to the rule of thirds) contrasted with the red.
The first aspect of this photograph is the pattern formed by the holes. What I particularly enjoy is that the pattern is mysteriously interrupted on the lower right of the photo. What could explain that?
Secondly, the texture of the subject’s surface is incredibly interesting. The darker splashes of color look like they could be from a frenetic painter’s brush. They add life and much character to this photo.
